The homeowners of this project wanted tidy up the home's entry way and reclaim a small courtyard space for use as an outdoor breakfast nook. In addition, drainage from the roof was an issue due to the scuppers dumping into the courtyard with no place to go resulting in the area flooding during monsoon season. We created cobble drains in key locations and regraded the space to allow for proper water flow. New plantings will create a wind break/privacy screen as well as provide a variety of colors and textures on the ground plane. Updated pictures will be posted as spring growth arrives.
This residence has a 4 foot grade change from the front door to the sidewalk. Gabion walls grow and expand in response to the amount of earth retained as well as provide a ramp lined with plantings leading up to a victory garden on the top level.
